Dozens of Iran films to vie in Dhaka film festival

Iran will have a strong presence with over two dozen films to be screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

Iran will have a strong presence with over two dozen films to be screened at the upcoming Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

The 16th DIFF will play host to 30 Iranian titles, including four foreign products with Iranian-origin directors, which will be screened at the nine-day festival in Bangladesh this month.

A total of 216 films will participate in different categories of the prominent festival.

Iranian director Mohsen Amir-Yousefi will also serve as a jury member in the Asia Cinema Competition category, which will screen 16 films from different countries.

In the category, Iran will be represented with films such as ‘Asphyxia’ directed by Fereydoun Jeyrani, ‘Take Off’ by Ehsan Abdipour, ‘The Hot Summer’ by Ebrahim Irajzad and ‘Only Men Go To the Grave’ by Abdulla Kaabi.

Iranian films showing in the World Cinema category include ‘Walking On The Wire’ directed by Ahmadreza Motamedi, ‘Kupal’ by Kazem Molaie, ‘Rag-e Khab’ by Hamid Nematollah and ‘The Migrants’ by Arash Riahi.

Other notable Iranian films, including Behrouz Nouranipour’s documentary war-drama ‘A 157’, have been selected to participate in the festival.

Established in 1992, the Dhaka International Film Festival is a biennial film festival held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The 16th edition of the DIFF will be held in the Bangladeshi capital from January 12-20.
